#best09: Rendezvous at Chez Nous

As part of the Best of 2009 Blog Challenge I’ll be blogging daily on the bests of 2009. Like a scrapbook, but cooler.

{December 2: Restaurant moment. Share the best restaurant experience you had this year. Who was there? What made it amazing? What taste stands out in your mind?}

Best dinner all year, hands down, was spent just a few months ago with Amber and Ars Lyrica friends at Chez Nous. An Ars Lyrica board member invited a few of us to check the famous French Restaurant north of Houston in Humble, to scout out the location for an upcoming concert.

All ten guests were picked up in a stretch limo, and we shared wine and champagne for an hour on the way to the restaurant. Once we arrived, we dined in a private room, and chatted with Chef Scott Simonson before our hosts treated the group with on off the menu caviar appetizer. The rest of the dinner, and the experience, was incredible, and unforgettable (although the wine at times tempted my memory.)

I remember looking around the table, and thinking to myself how amazed I was to be sitting there. Thankful that the decision I may earlier in the year, to venture out on my own, count on myself, and start a company, had gotten me a seat at this table, with these interesting and amazing people. It made me think of all the other places that risky, tough decisions would get me. And I smiled, with an extra boost of confidence.
